National Cathedral

Artist Gerry Hofstetter had his work projected on the Washington National Cathedral so I took advantage of it for my final danceaday dance. Todd was on camera duty while I worked my way around the building dancing in the light. Todd being Toddish decided to ask one of the people on the projector if the light would stain the walls if it was on all night. She was stunned by the question as you will hear. At the end you can hear me talking on the phone to Kate about the end of danceaday.

Thanks to everyone who has joined me on this ride. It is hard to believe that it has been a year and that now it is over. This blog is now an archive but please visit

http://boriswillismoves.blogspot.com or http://boriswillismoves.com for my next move. You can see a video of the Cathedral slideshow below if you have windows media player.

I will be writing about my experiences soon and will be describing my challenges and talking about why I wanted to do this project.

Peace,

Boris

Congratulations Boris! This magnificent cathedral of light is a very appropriate way to end this large body of work. Wishing you all the best in your next endeavors.

Hi-

kate is my cousin, and she told me about your site. It seems pretty neat, and I'd like to spread it and help you get some traffic. What was the impetus for undertaking such a project? I'd like a full explanation if you can give me, and if such an explanation exists. If you don't mind, I'd like to try and get your site mentioned on a site called BoingBoing (if you haven't heard of it, go check it out, boingboing.net). Would you be ok with that? But first I'd like to hear your reason, or any substitute for reason that could explain this project (note you don't have to fulfill this last request if you don't believe in causality).

Hi Boris -
very lovely ending, generous and open-hearted as all your dance-a-days have been. I love all the layers and textures of art-making present here, and the sense of event: the cathedral, art on cathedral, dancing by Boris, stand-up comedy by Todd, existential discussion about miracles, phone conversation giving us a sense of your on-goingness. I wish you much rest, and then of course more dance and video-making. congratulations!

Pre-Futurist Dance Manifesto

The world of the past is no more and the world of the future will never arrive. There is only now and how you decide to respond in the now.

Postmodernism has past.

We believe in the intelligence of the body, the intelligence of the mind and that the two are impossible to separate.

Dance is the result of the physicalized mind and the verbose body and we reject putting the cart of scholarship and language before the horse of dance.

Performance happens now, it does not have to secure funding, book a theater or advertise in newspapers. It does not need rehearsal space. It does not need a concept. It does not need to last for more than a second. It does not need to be ephemeral. It does not need flowy pants, tight tops or bare feet. It does not need previews, reviews or even to be seen at all.

We reject the term modern dance, we make art through movement. We dance, we make videos, we make paintings, we make video games, we write, we sculpt, we draw, we act, we sound and we move. We make art. We are artists.

We can change the world.
